HOW TO BBQ RIGHT
We partnered with How To BBQ Right to create a visually stunning site to accompany their incredibly tasty looking recipes. Bacon burnt ends have never looked so good!
About The Project
How to BBQ Right was already well-established as a staple in the delectable industry that is competition barbecuing. Their social media was on fire. They had a good amount of site traffic. They even had a functioning shop.
But their website didn't do much more than letting viewers read recipes. It didn't display their beautiful pictures. It didn't explain who Malcom Reed was, nor offer him a platform for his budding podcast. It also didn't effectively funnel viewers to their shop, in essence limiting the gross income they could make.
Scroll down to see how we collaborated to create a stunning website that captured Malcom's expertise and helped grow their business.
What We Did
Site Design & Development
Good digital strategy is all about finding ways to use your digital presence to maximize your business. Malcom already had a list of marketable products like BBQ classes, a podcast, a YouTube channel, a shop filled with tangible BBQ related products and more. We created a website that allowed him to promote himself and profit off of ALL his creations.
Our user interface (UI) design for this site involved promoting their huge, mouth watering photos, colorful links and succinct text. The user experience (UX) is equally important to us as seen in the intuitive site design, the mega navigation menu, the brand promotion, the informative yet salivating grids of images representing pages of quality content.
Establishing an identity for your business, a brand, is so important when you are looking to expand. We start with selecting the color scheme, followed by typography (text font, color, size, weight). Building a logo, implementing a slogan or tagline. Then, most importantly, wrapping all of this into one beautiful website for all to enjoy.
When you promote yourself as 'The Online Resource For Serious BBQ', it's clear that you are going to have a LOT of pages worth of content. Without adequate and intuitive navigation, these pages will likely never be found. Implementing UberMenu allows us to display entire catalogs of products and categories right from the main navigation menu.
After years of BBQ'n, making YouTube videos, and selling their own line of BBQ related products, Malcom and Rachelle decided to start up their own podcast. While it's not the focus of their website, adding an easy Libsyn link to listen to their podcast is just one more way to drive traffic and provide quality content, passively improving their credibility and their finances.
Malcom and Rachelle had a successful line of BBQ products, but where limiting themselves to selling through their YouTube channel or at competitions. Integrating their Shopify shop with their website has resulted in a major uptick of shoppers.
